The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said that it has received 1,67,004 passport applications during over last two years of which it cleared 1,30,326 till February this year.
As many as 1,67,004 applications have been received for grant of passports during the last two years till February 15 2012, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohmmad Sagar said on behalf of the Chief Minister in reply to a question by PDP member Murtaza Khan in the state Assembly here today.
Of these, 1,30,326 applications have been cleared, which included 10,051 backlogs, Sagar said adding that 46,729 applications are under process for grant of passports.
The minister said that in 2010, 65,416 applications were received out of which 61,217 were cleared while in the year 2011, 84,928 applications were received and 58,484 were cleared.
In the year 2012 upto February 15, 16,660 applications have been received and 274 of them cleared besides 10,051 backlog applications, he said.
Sagar further said that 4,199 applications of 2010 are under process, followed by 26,144 applications of 2011 and 16,386 applications, Sagar said.
