Responding to concern of the MLAs, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department today decided to restore water in main Ranbir Canal and Kathua canal from tomorrow in phased manner.
Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Jammu issued an order to this effect.
The Department advised the public in general and Zamindars in particular to remain aware as water would be released in Ranbir canal and Kathua canal in phased manner tomorrow.
The Department has asked all contractors working on the main canals and their distribution system to plan their execution to complete ongoing works expeditiously well before the release of water in the canals. The Executive Engineers will direct their field staff to patrol along the canals till the water reached up to tails end portion to ensure that there was no loss of life and property on opening of canal.
It may be mentioned that some MLAs had created uproar in the Assembly demanding immediate release of water in canal to remove sufferings of the farmers.
