203 snow trapped civilians rescued

130 Helicopter Unit – The Condors, of Indian Air Force (IAF) stationed at Jammu yet again undertook a demanding operation of rescuing stranded people from the inaccessible villages of Kishtwar region of J and K.
Braving piercing snow waves, and extreme cold conditions, IAF’s MI-17 choppers in assistance with the local administration airlifted 203 stranded people in 10 sorties from remote parts of Kishtwar region where they had been trapped for the past two days.
The operation was carried out under the captainship of Wing Commander Suresh Tiwari and Co-pilot Wing Commander Anup Sharma and Sqn Ldr Shiv. The aircraft took off at 7:30 AM and continued with the operations in the freezing temperature of minus -10 degree Celsius.
