Food festival in Jk

11-day food festival begins 

The 11-day long food festival has started at Orchid Restaurant, Fortune Inn Riviera with preparation of flavours of Kashmiri cuisines.

The festival, which has been organized in connection with celebration of 65th Independence Day of India will culminate on August 15, with Dawat-e-Khas (best cuisine), Rakesh Dogra General Manager of the Hotel and Naresh Dabral executive chef told reporters during the launch of food festival.

During the festival flavours of India’-cuisines from Kashmir to Kanyakumari will be served to the customers from 7-30 pm to 11 pm, said Mr Dogra.

He said in connection with celebration of the rich cultural diversity of the country Fortune Inn Riviera offers guests an opportunity to indulge in myriad flavours of the nation. Savour delicacies from the Dogri, Kashmiri and Punjabi in the North to the Rajasthani and Maharashtrian in the West, from the Hyderbadi and Malabari in the South to the delicious Bengali desserts.

He said tomorrow the delicious Dogri dishes will be served to guests which will be followed by the delicious Punjabi cuisine on offer including Bhatti ka Murg, Makki Di Roti Te Sarsoon Da Saag, Kadi Pakoda and Saag Murg, while Laal Maas, Maas Ke Sule and Dal Punchmel of Rajasthan. The Lucknawi Ghosht Ki Nehari, Galouti Kebab and Ulte Tawe ka Parantha will further enhance the Northern Indian excursion, he added.

Dogra said a culinary ride to South India will include Hyderabadi Pathar ka Gosht, Mirch Ka Salan and Haleem while the Malwani delicacies of Maharashtra will add to the variety that is sure to satisfy the taste bunds of all those who visit the fortune Inn Riviera this Independence week.

Farmers awareness camp organized

The Agriculture department today organized a public awareness camp in Bhagwah area of Bhaderwah whereat AEO along with JAEOs and other subordinate staff apprised the farming community about various schemes and programmes being implemented by the department.

Newly elected Sarpanchs and Panchs Lower Bhagwah, Manjmi and Mainchar of Panchayat and the general public participated in the awareness programme. The AEO apprised the farmers about various centrally sponsored schemes like KCC, National Agriculture Insurance Scheme, AIMA and Technology Mission. The farmers were advised to fill far for KCC scheme , besides making them aware about soil testing facilities available in Doda.

The demands raised by the farmers like ensuring timely availability of seeds, fertilizers and compensation for the crop loss due to prolonged dry spell were noted to be brought to the notice of higher authorities.

The farmers expressed their satisfaction over the awareness programme and hope that such meetings will be held in future also.
