Kargil students hold protest against LAHDC


All Kargil Students Association Jammu (AKSAJ) held a protest demonstration against Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) for its failure to supply hostel facility to the scholars learning in Jammu.

Students from Kargil assembled underneath the banner of All Kargil Students Association Jammu (AKSAJ) outside Kargil House, Bahu Plaza and raised slogans against LAHDC, for not providing hostel facility to them.

Addressing the gathering, Shakeel Ahmed, president, AKSAJ, said that their association held many conferences with Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for CAPD and Transport, relating to this issue and every time he promised the scholars to supply hostel facility at the earliest.

While speaking, Mohd Abuzar, lambasted the Minister for his inability in redressing the difficulty and added that administration generally and CEC above all don't seem to be able to fulfill the said demands of the scholars.

The association has served seven days ultimatum to the administration and Transport Minister to satisfy their demands, otherwise face dire consequences.

200 passengers of Kargil airlifted

Two hundred stranded passengers of Kargil were airlifted in special aircraft of IL-76 Indian Air Force from Jammu to Leh today. Another flight took off from Srinagar to Leh with 225 passengers, but had to return to Srinagar due to high velocity winds enroute.

In view of the cancellation of flight, arrangements have been made for airlifting these passengers on March 15 subject to fair weather.

The Kargil bound passengers at Srinagar, who are in possession of air tickets of Kargil courier from No: 16 to flight No: 20 have been advised to report Kargil House Bemina at 7.00 am and passengers of Flight No: 21 to flight No; 25 have been asked to report at 8.30 a.m on Thursday March 15, 2012.

Similarly, Kargil bound passengers at Jammu have been advised to reach Kargil House Jammu at 7 a.m on March 15, 2012.

Polytechnic campus at Kargil


An impressive inaugural function of Govt. Polytechnic campus was held at Khurbuthang, here today.

The campus was inaugurated by Minister for Technical Education, Medical Education and YSS, R S Chib, in presence of CEC Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councilors, LAHDC Kargil.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Chib, said that the present is committed to provide the education at door step in the entire State and Technical Education is on the priority list. While emphasizing the need of eradication of Un-employment in the state in particular and the country in general for inclusive growth of the nation, he said that technical and vocational education and training has gained much more importance than any other sector.

He said that Technical Education Department is taking all steps to meet the challenge of training the 40 million people by 2022 in various long term and short term market oriented skilled courses.

Mr. Chib informed that construction of 18 new polytechnics in J&K will start soon and the efforts are afoot to start these polytechnics in the temporary accommodations at an earliest. He further informed that Centre is taking very keen interest in development of technical education in the State and Prime Minister is personally monitoring the various schemes launched for the same. The Minister gave the detailed account of the different schemes launched by the Centre and the State under Skill Development Initiative.

The function was attended by Feroz Ahmad Khan MLA Zanskar, Mohd Hassan commander Ex-MP, District Development Commissioner / CEO LAHDC Kargil, Director Technical Education, Director Youth Service and Sports, besides other senior officials from the district and the Technical Education Department, office bearers and members of LAHDC Kargil and students.
