The birth anniversary of Sant Shree Gora Ji Maharaj was today celebrated with great religious fervour and gaiety today. In this connection a function was organized at Sant Gora Ji Bhawan, B C Road by Prajapati Sabha.
The function was held under the chairmanship of Ayodhya Kumar Manwa. A large number of members of the Sabha participated in the function in which Kuldeep Raj Verma, vice chairman OBC Advisory Board was the chief guest and Mangat Ram Sharma former Deputy Chief Minister was the guest of honour.
The devotees paid their obeisance to Sant Ji and sought his blessings. The function was also attended by various social and political leaders within and outside the state.
On the occasion speakers threw light on the teachings of this great saint and urged the people to follow them. They urged the community to launch a crusade against social evils. Sabha also distributed blankets to the poor and needy. It also presented mementos to meritorious students.
On the occasion charter of demands was read by G R Dafara publicity secretary of the Sabha. Kuldeep Raj Verma, Mangat Ram Sharma, Ayodhya Kumar Manwa, Des Raj Tyagi and Jeet Singh were among others who addressed the function. The langer was also served to devotees.
During the function the demands which were in principal agreed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah last year were also highlighted. They included issuance of OBC certificate on birth basis instead of OSC certificate, enhancement in creamy layer annual income from ` three lakh to ` nine lakh, pre matric /post matric scholarships and other educational facilities to OBC students on the pattern of SC/ST, reservation to OBC communities in Panchayat, civic bodies and other government agencies and enhancement in reservation.
