Kheerbhawani Mela at jammu

Kheerbhawani Mela celebrated at Bhawani Nagar with religious fervour, gaiety

Despite the scorching heat thousands of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged the Mata Ragnya Temple at Bhawani Nagar, Janipur here to participate in the annual Kheerbhawani Mela today.

There was a heavy rush of devotees during the early morning hours who visited the shrine to pay their obeisance to Godess Ragnya. However the rush decreased to some extent in the afternoon. But it swelled again in the evening during the time of Samohik Aarti.

The devotees were seen in long queues during the morning hours waiting for their turn to have the darshan and pay their obeisance at the holy temple at Bhawani Nagar, which is the replica of the ancient Mata Kheerbhawani temple of Tulamulla and was constructed by the Kashmiri Pandits soon after their migration from Kashmir Valley in 1990.

The temple came soon into prominence and thousands of devotees used to visit there on annual mela of Kheerbhawani and other festivals every year since then.

The devotees offered milk, flowers to the holy spring and temple. They prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State and the country. However the rush of the devotees was less than previous years as the majority of the Kashmiri Pandits had visited Valley to participate in the annual Kheerbhawani mela at Tulamulla in Ganderbal and other shrines of the Mata in various parts of Kashmir.

A hawan was also performed in the temple premises and devotees were served prashad after Puranahuti. The Bhajan Keertan continued in the temple premises since yesterday night and the function culminated with Samohik Aarti late in the evening in which a large number of devotees participated.

The elaborate arrangements were made by the Ardh Ratre Maha Ragnya Sewa Sanstha Trust for the devotees. The entire shrine was fully decorated befitting the occasion by the Trust who had also installed various stalls for the yatris’ convenience.

The authorities had also made complete arrangements of transport, drinking water and sanitation etc so that the yatris were not put to any trouble.

The Trust expressed its compliments to the administration for its cooperation and support.

The pooja archana was also performed at the temple of Godess at KP Sabha Ambphalla by its members today. Besides three day long religious function in connection with celebration of Jeshta Ashtami which concluded at Kailash Dham Chinore where a Maha Yagya was also solemnized. The devotees were served prashad this afternoon after the Puranhauti of the Hawan.
