Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) in collaboration with the Bandipora Youth Awami Mahaz today organized awareness cum medical camp in the North Kashmir district of Bandipora.
Around 1000 patients were attended by over one dozen doctors during which around one dozen imported wheel chairs were distributed among the disabled person and medicine worth thousands of rupees was distributed among the poor patients.
A spokesman of VMS said that doctors drawn from the different streams examined the patients. He said psychiatrists belonging to Department of Psychiatry and Neuro-Sciences, Government Medical College, Srinagar rendered their services during the camp.
"Renowned neurologist of SKIMS-Soura, Dr. Sheikh Saleem was also present during the medical camp and he too attended the patients. People suffering from various disabilities were provided wheel-chairs, hearing aids, tricycles and crèche during the camp. Medicines were also distributed among the patients," said the spokesman.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Ghulam Hassan Khan, SP Bandipora, Bashir Ahmad Khan and some other dignitaries were also present during the function. Renowned advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik was the chief guest on the occasion. The function was presided over by Dr. Mir Maqbool Ahmad, President VMS.
