Reliable sources said that three persons, who have been short-listed for this prestigious post, included Prof Rajive Gupta, former Director Colleges, University of Jammu, Prof M P Singh Ishar from Guru Nanak Dev University and P S Ahuja, Director CSIR Lab, Palampur.
The incumbent Vice-Chancellor Prof Varun Sahni’s tenure has already expired in the month of December, 2011, but he got extension under the rules of Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act, 1969.
Governor NN Vohra, in his capacity as the Chancellor of University, is likely to select the new Vice-Chancellor from this list of short-listed candidates by the search panel.
