Rajiv Gandhi Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament

Challenger Cricket Club (CCC) and Lucky Star Cricket Club registered resounding victories over their respective rivals to advance in the ongoing 3rd Rajiv Gandhi Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first, Challenger Club sailed on a splendid partnership of 85 runs between Rakesh Koul and Parveen Singh to score a mammoth total of 175 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing six wickets in the process. Rakesh played a gem of an innings of 58 runs including seven boundaries, while Parveen hit three fours and two sixes in his knock of 48 runs off 34 balls. Manjeet Singh (15) and Madan Mohan (13) were other contributors. From Bagh-e-Bahu, Tarandeep Singh, Rockey and Ravinder shared two wickets apiece. In reply, Bagh-e-Bahu managed to score 121 for eight wickets in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 54 runs. Rockey (35), Nasir (31) and Susheel (24) were the main contributors. Parveen Singh was pick of the bowlers for Challenger Club, taking two wickets for five runs in his spell of three overs. Rakesh Koul, Rahil Singh, Manjeet Singh and Sahil Bhalwal claimed one wicket apiece. Rakesh Koul was adjudged man of the match for his superb knock of 58 runs. In another match, Lucky Star Cricket Club trounced Tiger Cricket Club by two runs in a thrilling contest. Winning the toss and batting first, Lucky Star Club scored a good total of 151 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated overs. Vijay and Sunil contributed 44 and 43 runs to the total respectively. For Tiger Club, Mittu took two wickets, while Sheru and Vijay claimed one wicket each. In reply, Tiger Club fell short of just two runs to lose the match by this narrow margin in a nail biting finish. Mittu, Neelu and Sunil Tickoo contributed 40, 28 and 21 runs to the total respectively. Sunil was pick of the bowlers for Lucky Star Club, who scalped three important wickets, while Tony and Ashu claimed one wicket each. Sunil of Lucky Star Club was declared man of the match for his all-round display.
