3 Traffic officials suspended

Authorities today suspended three Traffic Police officials including Inspector Raj Kumar Koul after receiving a complaint from the Chief Minister's Secretariat that they were charging money from bus and mini-bus operators at Jhajjar Kotli on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Besides Mr Koul, two other Traffic Police officials, who have been placed under suspension, included Jagdeep Singh, constable driver and Raman Kumar, selection grade constable.

SSP Traffic, Jammu, Manmohan Singh issued the suspension orders after visiting the spot. An inquiry has also been ordered against them, which would be conducted by a DySP.

Official sources said a complaint was received from the Chief Minister's office about corrupt practices of Traffic Police officials. The action was taken on basis of the complaint.

The complaint was being verified, sources said.
