Water Boats from Peerzoo to Chattabal


The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon has directed to ply water boats from Peerzoo to Chattabal Veer from April 15, 2012 till elaborate arrangements for starting water transport in River Jhelum at a massive scale are put in place for which process have already been initiated.

The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a meeting held here today in this connection.The meeting reviewed the pace of process for infrastructure building for the water transport. It was given out that tenders have been invited from water taxi operators and vessel owners who are desirous of plying water transport from Pantha Chowk to Chattabal Veer for ferrying passengers and tourists.

The meeting was informed that Irrigation and Flood Control department, Kashmir has sought tenders for mechanically driven 18 seater water taxis.

It was also informed that 12 sites have been identified for terminals which are being developed.The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N. Qasba, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic, Superintendent of Police Traffic, Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir, NGO and other concerned officers
