All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee

The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed concern over the continued alleged negligence of the minority Sikh community at the hands of respective governments from time to time and injustices faced by them in the state over the past six decades.

The community, in view of these observations, has sought the opposition parties in the State, to play their role and take up the issue and ask the government as to what efforts had been taken to uplift the Sikhs of J&K during the past six decades.

“The APSCC will come out with concrete plans at state level to give shape to its efforts”, said Jagmohan Singh Raina, chairman of the All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) at a function held at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Bejbehara in south of Kashmir. The function was attended by Sikhs across the J&K.

Elaborating further, Raina stated that Sikhs are the major decisive voter in 20 important constituencies of the State whose votes have been playing key role in the election of candidates to the State Assembly. But, the most unfortunate part is that these MLAs have never come forward for any help in solving the crises and problems faced by Sikh community in these constituencies.

“These minister and MLAs have been a number of times apprised of the problems faced by the Sikhs in their constituencies but they have let down the genuine demands of Sikh community. We now warn them if this time they failed to overcome the problems faced by the Sikhs then our community is left with no other option than to launch a campaign across the state which will further be taken to national capital for the intervention of civil society”, Raina said.

The APSCC Chairman added that some of these MLAs now are the ministers in the coalition government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. They include Javid Ahmad Dar, who just won by 216 votes, Nasir Aslam Wani by margin of 816 votes, Raman Bhalla by 2263votes and, Surjeet Singh Slathia by a margin of 1212 votes. He added that “Other MLAs should under¬stand the importance of each and every vote cast in their favor and should not turn a blind eye towards Sikh community. Otherwise the members of the minority community would be forced to reconsider their support to the candidates contesting future elections, He said
During the gathering at Bejbehara, President GPC Anantnag Tirath Singh also expressed complete solidarity with APSCC for highlighting the genuine Sikh demands pending since 6 decades. The other Sikhs leaders included Ranger Balwant Singh, Amir Singh and others who spoke on the occasion.
