Parshuram Jayanti Yatra

An impressive Sant Yatra was taken out on the occasion of Bhagawan Parshuram Jayanti here today. A large number of Sants drawn form different parts of Jammu region and other devotees of Bhagwan Parshuram participated in theYatra which was led by Raj Guru Mahamandleshwar Swami Vishawatmanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj.

The Sant Yatra started from Parade Ground and after passing through Moti Bazar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra, Jain Bazar, Link road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar, Shaheedi Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Ranbireshwar Chowk culminated at Parade.

The people and members of various business and trade organizations welcomed the Sant Yatra enroute by installing welcome gates and showering flowers on them. The devotees enroute paid obeisance to Bhagwan Parshuram Ji to seek blessings from him.

Parshuram's chariot came on a well decorated vehicle and the devotees accompanying the Yatra were reciting bhajans and hymns enroute.

Besides a Jhanki of Bhgawan Parshuram, Baba Ranpat Dev, Baba Jitoo and Baba Kalik Dev were also the part of the Yatra.

The programme was organized by Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha. Over week long programme in connection with celebrations of Parshuram Jayanti started from May 1 with Kalash Yatra. It was followed by daily religious discourses by Swami Ji.

The members of Dharmarth Trust and priests of Raghunath temple greeted the Sant yatra on reaching near the temple by showering flower petals on them while the members of Muslim Federation had installed welcome gates at Rajinder Bazar.

The people had also installed stalls to offer soft drinks and water to the Sants and other devotees participating in the yatra en-route.

Giving religious discourses Swami Ji said that the religious programme was performed for the restoration of peace in the trouble-torn state.

The president of the Sabha Ved Parkash Sharma and its general secretary Shakti Dutt Sharma said that Sabha will organize a Yagnopavit ceremony at Brahmin Sabha tomorrow in which the sacred thread wearing investiture ceremony of 100 Hindu youth will be performed. He said people interested in such ceremony can even approach the by 7 am tomorrow.
