Indira Gandhi National Open University, Regional Centre, Jammu today organised a day long meeting of Coordinators/Programme Incharges of all the Learners Study Centres under Jammu Region.
Dr Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion who commended the role of IGNOU in Open Distance Learning (ODL) of education especially for downtrodden and economically weaker sections of the society.
He also highlighted the role of IGNOU for women education besides launching various need-based programmes in the field of Para-Medical, Disaster Management, Cyber Law etc.
Divisional Commissioner stressed the need for capacity building of learners through various skill-development based programmes.
The coordinators and programme incharges had an interactive session with the Regional Centre functionaries wherein several issues related to the functioning of Learner Study Centres were discussed and resolved.
IGNOU Regional Director, K K Bhat briefed the gathering about the various innovative schemes that were being introduced for the benefit of IGNOU learners in larger perspective.
He stressed on the need to improve the student support services in the region and urged the coordinators and programme incharges to devise the finest mechanism to cater to the educational requirements in best possible way.
He urged the coordinators to ensure the maximum participation of IGNOU students to avail facilities like tele-conferencing and broadband facilities.
Vikram Singh, Assistant Regional Director through power point presentation interacted with the coordinators and discussed various issues pertaining to admissions, examinations and student grievances.
