Various Kashmiri Pandit organizations have expressed grave concern over the recent statements of Sadhoo Dharamsathaan Surakshini Samiti (SDSS) opposing the passage of Kashmiri Hindus Shrines and Temples Bill and accusing the community for selling various temples and shrines land in Valley.
In their separate statements two KP organizations "The All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) and Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) termed the statement of Sadhu Samaj as totally unfortunate.
APMCC said dozens of temples in the State had been re-opened and rituals performed over the last decade since the community's mass exodus from the Valley at the height of militancy in the 90's.
APMCC has re-opened dozens of temples in Kashmir valley during the past decade and conducted 'yagnas' and religious festivals in which thousands of Kashmiri Pandits thronged", APMCC Chairman Vinod Pandit, said in a statement here.
He termed the recent comment by a member of SDSS stating that Kashmiri Hindus had not conducted prayers at even a single temple in the Valley during the past two decades as totally baseless.
"APMCC and Temple committees in various towns and villages have re-opened 47 temples, rebuilt a few shrines and removed several encroachments from religious premises", he said.
Alleging "massive" land grabbing of temple plots in the Valley, Pandit said the passage of the Temple and Shrines Bill would help save the pantheons from land sharks and encroachers.
KPC Chief Kundan Kashmiri said the statement of SDSSS has hurt the sentiment of displaced KPs and termed it as most unfortunate.
He said this is an indication that some forces are hell bent to sabotage the passage of Shrines Bill.
Kundan Kashmiri, while further reacting to the statement said that Pandits take Sadhu Samaj in high esteem and they still don’t believe the statement as it is Sadhu Samaj which has from times immemorial contributed for uplifting of dharma and taken a lead in challenging those who tried to denigrate religion and Hindu Samaj.
