Youth for PK kick starts Metro Walk

Youth for Panun Kashmir kick started nationwide awareness campaign, Metro Walk, from the national capital this morning.

In a series of day-long events young activists of P K distributed one hundred thousand pamphlets outside the different gates of Rajiv Chowk Metro station. A number of street plays under the theme of 'Jeshan-e-Exile' were staged by the young activists, Kanwal Peshin, Rakesh Pandita and others near Hanuman Mandir, Central Park, Cannaught Place and surrounding areas. A series of musical street concerts were also performed to attract the attention of common masses. Eminent singer and musician Dalip Langoo along with highly talented guitarist Rahul Tiku also performed during the events.

The unique feature of programme was a live webcast of all the events. The entire series of events was available live www.youthforpanunkashmir.org

In order to seek the support of common Indian masses, a phone in facility was launched simultaneously. According to the technical team monitoring the web cast and phone in IVR, around 10,000 people had logged on the web site by 3PM and 12,000 messages had been recorded in phone IVR. The day long series of events in Delhi were launched by Dr. Agnishekhar, Convener, Panun Kashmir by handing over the first pamphlet to the passengers coming out of the Rajiv Chowk Metro station. Panun Kashmir intends to take this campaign to all major Indian cities shortly. The Delhi campaign would immediately be followed by similar activity in Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.

The Metro Walk campaign will fulfill the part of the resolutions adopted by the 1st International Kashmiri Pandit Youth Conference in Pune recently, said Dr Agnishekhar.
