Work on Rambagh Bikram Chowk flyover in Sept

Minister of State for Planning Manohar Lal Sharma today informed the House that the construction work of two ambitious flyover projects include Jehangir Chowk to Natipora on the Airport Road and Bikram Chowk to Women's College Gandhi Nagar would be started in September-October 2012.

The Minister was replying to a question of Vijay Bakaya in Legislative Council. He said that Jehangir Chowk Flyover would be constructed at an estimated cost of ` 256.66 crore and Bikram Chowk flyover at an estimated cost of ` 95.50 crore, adding that the expected time for completion of each flyover will be three years after the works are physically taken up for execution.

Minister of State for PHE, Nasir Aslam Wani informed the House that 3 Centrally sponsored schemes viz ARWSP/NRDWP, JNNURM, UIDSSMT, are operational for providing safe drinking water to the people residing in Rural and Urban areas of the State.

He was replying to a question Naresh Kumar Gupta. He said the payment is being made to the contractors through cheques, adding that the payment is also being made directly to the Labourer engaged and in some time through Labourer mates.

Mr. Nasir said that total 214 water tankers, 163 belonging to PHE Department and 51 of private agencies, have been engaged for providing drinking water facilities to the people.

Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy asked supplementary to the question.

Replying to another question of Subhas Chander Gupta, Mr. Nasir informed the house that for developing of drinking water sources in Kathua district ` 2.72 crore have been spent during 2008-09, ` 1.81 crore during 2009-10 and ` 2.54 crore during 2010-11 under MNP scheme .

Similarly ` 22. 87 crore have also been spent during 2009-10, ` 20.77 crore during 2010-11 for developing of drinking water sources under ARWSP, in the district ,he added.
