Khoda inspects construction works

Jammu and Kashmir Police has played a significant role in maintaining law and order in the State and has proved itself as ''saviour and defender'' by safeguarding the lives and properties of people during its fight against militancy. Besides, police public meets and activities under civic action programme are significant rejoinder of the Organization which have assumed public attention.

This was stated by the Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda while addressing the police darbar at District Police Lines, Kishtwar today. He said that jawans and officers have shown their high standards of discipline and proficiency while performing their duties in harsh conditions. The men in khaki while dealing tough situations in the field never lost their patience despite hostile actions by bad elements.

He said that JKP has been performing its primary responsibility of maintaining law and order in the State and its role became more significant when the State had to face the challenge of militancy. The force dealt the situation efficiently with the result the security situation has improved to a large extent. This has been achieved with the full cooperation of the people.

The DGP said that the service of the public is of paramount importance for the police and the Organization is carrying out various activities under its civic action programme (CAP). These activities include to develop mini stadiums in rural areas, organize tournaments to promote sports culture, installation of computers in educational institutions, distribution of uniform and articles among the needy students, organizing debates and quiz competitions, talent hunt, establish youth clubs and community centres, establish public libraries and other activities which could lead the youth towards their bright future.

On the occasion, Mr. Khoda announced out of turn promotion in favour of four personnel and also announced permanent absorption of seven SPOs as constables/followers in the district. These SPOs have been considered for their permanent absorption in the department following their good performance for avoiding collateral damages and ensuring the safety of human lives during various operations.

Mr. Khoda accompanied by ADG (Headquarters), IGP, Jammu Zone, and DIG, Doda Range, was on day long visit to district Kishtwar. During his visit, he inspected various police construction projects presently under execution in the district.

During the inspection, Mr. Khoda reviewed the pace of progress of on going construction works at District Police Lines Kishtwar. These works are executed by Police Construction Division (PCD) which include district telecom office of Kishtwar.

Mr. Khoda also discussed building plans with the senior police officers and executing agencies on the spot. After thread bare discussions, various building plans were approved and the DGP stressed upon the engineers to keep in mind the requirements of jawans and officers while chalking out the proposals. The ADG Headquarters, Dr. S. P. Vaid and N. D. Khawaja, Executive Engineer, (PCD), who were accompanying the DGP, apprised about the building plans and progress achieved on this front. He said that efforts have been put in place to ensure quality material in the construction of these buildings and to complete them within the stipulated time.
