The activists of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations today organized a rally.Large number of members from all the district units of the Confederation participated in the programme which was inaugurated by Shri Shri Swami Gurdeep Giri ji Maharaj.
Members and leaders of the Confederation, social and religious leaders expressed anguish over the alleged discriminatory attitude of the Government regarding the rights of SC/ST/OBCs.
R K Kalsotra, president of the State Unit, said that in the present context, even the existing rights guaranteed to these categories were being tampered with, not to talk of seeking any new safeguards.
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the way in which the permission to march towards Secretariat firstly granted and was later rescinded.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister through the ADC/ACR, Jammu by the Confederation in support of their demands.
These include reservation in Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Zirrat, Rehbar-e-Sehat, consolidated, contractual, adhoc, temporary, need basis in Government corporations, J&K Bank, NRHM, SPOs, Anganwari workers, and calculation of pending backlog of over 40,000 posts in these departments for SC/ST/OBCs, implementation of 27% reservation for OBCs, enhancement of income slab for the OBCs at par with that at the Centre for creamy layer, providing full reservation quota to SC/ST/OBC candidates in admission to PG Medical courses, providing adequate representation to the SC/ST/OBC categories in local body elections at Sarpanch, Urban local bodies and Block Development Council levels etc.
Kalsotra instructed the cadre to remain ready for big fight and directed that every member of the district units should struggle at their district levels for achieving their rights and submit similar memoranda to the respective public representatives and administrators to be routed to the CM.
